Friday Update - Halloween 2016 Edition!

Student Artists of The Month!

A new tradition has begun in our Art Department.  Ms. Pyatt has selected the first three Hereford Elementary Artists of The Month.  Congratulations to fifth graders Luke Gerstenberg, Erin States and Lilyth Mathison!

Library Happenings

Using the website "Storybird", the students in Ms. McGovern's third grade classes are writing and illustrating their own stories.  In this lesson, students evaluated each other's work using a predetermined rubric.  These young authors will now use that feedback to edit and revise their work.

Relay for Life - Hereford Bazaar Bake Sale!

We need your help in supplying a baked good/treat for the upcoming Hereford Bazaar. The money received for your donation goes towards Hereford Elementary School's Relay for Life team. We ask that you avoid using nuts and nut products with all baked goods. All donations can either be dropped off after 3pm on Friday, November 11th in the main office or in the cafeteria the day of the Bazaar.  Click here to sign-up to supply a baked good.  Thank you again for considering a donation!

Box Tops

What do all of those box tops get us?  Let some of our awesome students tell you.  They recently presented at our October PTFS meeting!

National Red Ribbon Week

The final week of October is dedicated to drug awareness, school safety, and healthy living. This year, the middle school’s theme for RRW is “Be a Hero”.  You are invited to a presentation for parents, and interested community members on October 24th at 6:30p.m. in the UPMS Auditorium.

Hereford Elementary White Pages
The PTFS would like to compile a student directory.  This will be an address and phone listing of students.  We hope this will be a useful reference and a great way to contact other families for homework questions or social events.
If you would like to take advantage of the OPTIONAL directory, please complete the form by Friday, October 28.
Only those families who choose to participate in the directory will receive a copy.

Hereford Library Volunteer Opportunities
All Hereford students come to the library to get books each week. Ms. McGovern relies on volunteers to help manage the book circulation process. As a volunteer, you would help with circulation, gathering supplies for projects, and helping with organization. Scheduling is flexible.  Volunteers typically come for a morning or an afternoon.
Ms. McGovern wants you to know that she cannot express how much she appreciates her volunteers. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email her:

Science Explorers Program Presentation
The Science Explorers program visited Hereford Elementary School on Wednesday, October 14th for a school-wide assembly.  After school classes at Hereford are forming now!  Please contact Mr. Guellich at for more information!
