FLITE School is Open

The Hereford Elementary Computer Lab is closed forever.

Sporting brand new ASUS Flip Chromebooks, students are beginning the journey of earning their wings, using the new technology to explore concepts in computer programming, computer-aided design and physics exploration! The first few weeks have been all about setting the foundation for what is sure to be the most exciting year yet! Students in Grades 3-5 are getting themselves set up using a variety of Google products in order to facilitate courses they'll be exploring in Code.org and TynkerCad, a free 3-D design program offered from AutoDesk. Our younger students have been working diligently to familiarize themselves with our new tech and get comfortable with the new login procedures. All in all, classes throughout the building are really gearing up for take-off and will be flying high before we know it!

Q: So what does FLITE School stand for?
A: Fundamentals Learned through Innovation, Technology, and Exploration

Q: Where can I learn more about Mr. Guellich's work: A: Follow him on Google+

In Our Classrooms

Hereford Elementary focuses on a Balanced Literacy approach.

Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC)
Upper Perkiomen's elementary reading specialists are being trained by the Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC). This free partnership is provided by a mentor from the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU). The reading specialists are trained to work with teachers individually, in small, or large groups to provide support and professional development toward strengthening instructional practice, increasing student engagement and improving student learning. The reading specialists attend monthly meetings at the MCIU along with 64 other coaches in the county. In addition, the coach mentor, Stephanie Schwab, visits Hereford and Marlborough to observe and support the reading specialist as they support the teachers.
